How's your heart doing?
Much better. At my last check up they said it’s funtioning at a much higher rate than they ever expected, almost normal in fact. Considering it was functioning at below 20% effectiveness right before my surgery, that’s a miracle. But my heart did suffer a lot of damage from being in stage IV heart failure for so long so I’m somewhat limited what I can do physically now.

Do you have a pacemaker?
No. They thought about it when I was in a-fib but they’ve resolved that problem by doing a cardioversion. All I have is a mechanical mitral valve.

Make sure it’s MRI safe if you ever have to have one.

That actually came up back in March when I collapsed at work and had to be put in the hospital again. They did an MRI on my head to rule out a stroke, which I did not have a stroke. I keep a St. Jude’s registration card in my wallet that has instructions on the back how to safely give me an MRI. Still, I have to admit I was pretty nervious while they were doing it. I know it was all in my head but I could swear I could feel it tugging at me the whole time.
