Way too fricking much

There's a day rate which includes care and training. Then there are vet bills, farrier bills, etc. there are always bills.

I have partners, thankfully.

Vet bills are rough. We have a healthy dog and had a shocking emergency vet bill last year. I can't imagine what it costs to care for multiple horses.

What exactly do you do? Raise, train, sell horses?

I bet

Everything surrounding horse racing is expensive. And the fact that CHD just seems like some money hungry fools.

I remember it seemed like maybe right before Katrina is when CHD bought the fair grounds.... any yeah they did some improvements and all, but their big deal seemed to be all about that dolla and pumping as many video poker machines as possible into the place.... and from what I understand they don't reinvest near what they should be or whatever for upkeep. Not remembering where I heard that. Might have been from someone speaking about them getting all the machines put in.

Isn't it one of the top 3 oldest tracks in North America?

@ Uncle Reb, when the RV hitting the town.... ill rope off my street out front with carnage cans and caution tape... roll the RV right uptown Baw

Horses are my hobby.

As I stated above, I have help on the racehorse. The show horse I try to do as much work on my own as possible. That's why I got home at 10:00 tonight .

I feel you on the dog vet bills too
I work my arse off in a normal job so my animals can lead good lives

Churchill sucks big time. They only put money into their flagship track for derby time, so it's not just other tracks.

New president or whatever he is comes from casinos. They are buying more actual casinos and putting less money into their tracks.

When Kenny was in Nola, how often did you see him? Does he miss you like a dog? like compare him to S the puppy?

I remember you sent Kenny up to shitport rightness before your trip to KY, hopefully he doesn't have separation anxiety or depression from missing his mommy

Do horses love or miss people they know? Are they smarter than dogs?

At least every two weeks though I tried to see him every week. I'm pretty sure he knows me. As an orphan he is a very kind and people oriented horse. And he's going to be a NICE show horse for me when he retires.

I wish he didn't have to go to lad, but that's where his trainer goes and the grass course is so much better than Evangeline. He gets plenty of attention, though,

Some do, some don't.

Some are, some aren't

Depends on the horse.

The Swingers convention comes to Nola I think in the summer time, and it's pretty damn bad arse.

One year my territory was booming so my company chose Nola for the annual meeting for SE division. Well had a bunch of boss men come down from NC baptist country. First time in Nola and of course had to be the 'tour guide', well it happened be the swingers convention weekend. That's why I remember it being in the summer..... I got a substantial raise that year.

I used to ride my cousins' horses in Kentwood when I was a kid.

One summer they dared me to try and ride one of their sheep. Did not end well for me
