Got more info this afternoon.
Apparently he’d been chatting all last night with his friend overseas. His friend asked him to call him. They talked for about 6 minutes (he didn’t tell me what was said.) and then shot himself. While my friend was on the other end of the line. fricked him up bad.
Awful situation and I feel for our veterans.

I just don’t even know what to say. I mean I know he’s fricked up. Already was. He was in the shite. The deep shite. When he’s drunk he’ll tell the stories. Some of them are funny, in a way. fricked up but funny.
And then, when he’s really drunk, and it’s just us...he’ll tell the tales. The deep shite ones.
They always leave me with chills. And I saw that same look in his eyes this afternoon.

I’m glad you’re there for your friend... I hope that through a strong support network of family and friends (and hopefully including grief counselors) you’re all able to help him through this traumatic loss.
