You coached one game. You didn't teach them anything. Teaching the game happens over time.

I have coached league champs and I have coached teams that have taken their lumps. I was always prepared with the mentality that it was my team's responsibility to collect outs and stop the other team from scoring, that being said, when I got to a certain point with a team that I knew I had them beat, then I would play station to station. This came up one time in a game with at team that had beaten us earlier in the year and we had to win by a margin of 10 runs to win the league - they had beaten us by 9 earlier in the year. We keep the pedal to the medal and one by 15 or so, and the other parents got mad. That's how it goes, but when you are coaching, you definitely need to use judgement when to keep playing and when to let off. I think if the level of competition is nearly equivalent, then go for it. if you are playing an obviously inferior team, then what good does it do to keep stealing every time? Just explain to them why you didn't after the game.

No. Thanks for asking, Dick Head.

I'd have my base runners slide "cleats up" on your douche-bag infielders. Did it give you a rush having these young kids revere you as the savior of their shitty baseball team?

Most of you are bitches. I also played in a league that ranged in age from 9-12 years old. We would beat the shite out of the young teams. If one of them pulled this and beat us, they would have got a hand shake after the game. This game is probably the highlight of this teams year.

Having coached Little League for about 10 years I am calling bs on this being 9-12 year old league. There is never that much age discrepancy and 9-10 is usually coach pitch.

FWIW, I have always had my kids steal every time they get on base. I even have my kids steal home when the catcher returns the ball to the pitcher. I have never gotten any complaints from a league commissioner for aggressive play. Games are not called when one team is up by 10 because both teams have to get at 5 innings at bat, so I have never slowed down when up by 10. If you are short on pitching then there are times you can be up by 10 and then down by 10, in one inning.

I don't see anything wrong with how you approached things, but your story seems to have holes. Banning a volunteer for debatable offenses seems very farfetched to me.

If you steal every time a kid gets on base and steal home when the catcher throws the ball back you are a PUSSY coach! You're probably the guy that sucked at baseball and now you have to live through 9-12 year old kids. Teach them the right way to win and lose! You're pathetic

No this is some bs. You want to teach kids how to win but you also want to teach them strategy and sportsmanship. There is absolutely no advantage gained to stealing bases every pitch when the game is no longer in doubt. It's bad sportsmanship and bad strategy

No he was supposed to stop stealing and taking extra bases once he was up double digits and the game was no longer in doubt

Youth baseball is the worst. I got suspended once for running over a third basemen that was standing in the middle of the base path
