You people are fricking delusional. She's a 5-year-old kid.Let her enjoy life

I do let her enjoy life. Jesus. But I don’t let her or my sons sit inside and watch TV all day. She likes sports, and she’s good at them. Mostly, I think she just likes winning. She might be the most competitive of all of my kids. I wouldn’t force her to throw right if she hated it. But I’m fairly certain that I could have taught her to throw right if I’d started her off like that, and I don’t think it’s too late.

This is a small compromise. You get all the benefits of being left handed, the righties at least get the 3 infield positions. What you don’t realize yet, is: those 3 infield positions are the hardest to get. If you try out for elite teams those are the only 3 positions no one is looking for. Thus you make the better teams by playing OF, pitcher, or 1st. If 50 kids show up to a tryout, 49 of them have INF as their first or second position. So no, stay left handed and never apologize for God’s gift to her.

Thank you. This is good advice.

I’ve seen lefty catchers in softball at the collegiate level. Pretty sure UCLA had one a decade or so back.

With the plethora of lefty hitters in softball and the way base running works, I’m sure it’s not as big of a sin as in baseball.

SLUs catcher is lefty. It’s not the end of the world. Forcing her to throw righty just because is retarded and asking for issues. Let her do what’s natural to her. She’ll enjoy it more. Is having a righty some since of pride for daddy? I don’t understand this train of thought.

There is so much fricked up in this statement that I already feel sorry for the girl. Let her play how she wants to play and quit worrying about things that dont matter in life. You have a 50/50 chance that after 3-4 yrs of domineering father coaching that she will give softball up and change to Dance class... Speaking from experience.

Holy shite, people. She LIKES sports. If she enjoyed and showed some ability at music, would I be wrong to ask questions about which instruments to introduce her to? I’m not trying to get her a freaking college scholarship, but if I can make a small change now that will increase her chances of success later on (assuming she sticks with sports), then why shouldn’t I do that? Some of y’all assume the absolute worst. I don’t have her outside in the batting cage 12 hours a day.

Also, in softball LH catchers aren't as taboo and you see some especially at the HS level.

I recently learned that. Interesting little nuance.

How do you determine if she’s left eye dominant?

Whoa! That was really cool. Unfortunately, it says I’m right-eye dominant, and I batted righty. Could have gone pro if Dad had taught me to hit lefty.

Just keep doing what you're doing. In a few years her OF subscribers won't care which hand she uses at all.

Then leave her the frick alone

make a small change

Changing dominant hands is as large of a change as exists in sports where you use your hands.

What part, don't you get?
