Because the stinkiest shite sticks sturdiest to the sole of a shoe.

Just because it’s 2:30 in the Morning and you’ve nothing better to do

We used to have a Night Shift Roll Call.

Answer the question and make conversation. You might learn a thing or two

All three are Basically the same thing. Trust your own intuition. So you’ve got one.

Find 2 more.

As was I. I still did it sneaky as I could. The world’s made by men who learn to break the rules without the warden’s knowing they are even broken

I can tell your youth from your posts.
I’ve been there.

Word of advice. Find your rules. And don’t make them vague bullshite. Make them achievable things you can live by.

Something innate in yourself. Inviolable laws you don’t break because they are yours. Damn the laws of gods and men. These are yours.

Mine are
1. Be punctual (value your time and others.)
2. Be useful (do what you are skilled at, and if you aren’t, admit it, ask and learn)
3. Be practical (use some common sense and be willing to change.)

What if you aren't willing to change?

Then you have to have a real palaver with yourself as to why you aren’t willing to change.

And the tête a tête with yourself is a real humdinger. Because sometimes it’s an acceptance that the world has changed and you haven’t. Other times it’s that you’ve been wrong all along. But if you’re gonna change, then make sure the change is worth it. The Flavor of the day isn’t worth breaking the mold for. But if there truly is a better path then it’s worth trodding through the thorns

If you are going to make a fundamental change to your personal code, you have to first be honest with yourself. You have to know yourself and admit that you are wrong.

Then you have to examine that if you are wrong, is there a better path ahead of you. If there is and you can see it you have to commit yourself to that path with all the pain that might bring. And if you can’t, then you must find another way or follow a path you know isn’t feasible

What is wrong and what is right? Sometimes the implications of either can be blurry.

Interesting question. It implies a binary system in which there is a binary code.

Meaning there are two choices. One is “wrong”. One is “right”

If we are writing simple Fantasy then it is easy. The good is an obvious good and the evil is an obvious evil.

But life and reality aren’t so confined to such rudimentary sets. Once you peel back the onion layers you learn that the surface doesn’t tell the whole story. Men who seem honorable can do evil and men who appear roguish can do good.

But in the end it’s all a coin flip. You make a choice. Yes or no. This or that.
And both happen, but you only get to trod the path of one

Stealing it from the universe. We are minuscule specks on the tiniest pimple of lifeforms clinging to a grain of a sand of time on an infinite beach.
And yet in defiance of my unworthy and insignificant existence, when my children throw their arms around me and say “I Love you daddy.”...that is the biggest thing I’ve ever felt.

In spite of my infinitesimal inadequacy, I still felt amazing when the tigers won the Natty. I still feel a terrible ache when I long for the space my brother left.

Our mere audacity to exist and feel and love and weep and simply to be, against seemingly improbable and insurmountable odds...

That In of itself is cause for celebration.

Look, I’ve been there. Numerous times.

I know the darkness well. But I keep fighting. Because after all I’ve lost, when I’ve been in spots where it felt like I’d find no laughter or love or life again, here I stand.

And I have laughed. And loved. And lived.

And here you are and here i am and you know what, we stand in defiance of the odds. Because it ain’t over until it’s over. And the fat lady ain’t sung yet

The tigers Natty won't cure me, but that was the happiest I've been in a long time.

To hell with those who say trivial things can't make you happy

Everything, to someone, is a trivial thing.

We steal happiness from the universe.
