Give the government more money
Thats not really what's happening. They've moved it from inventory tax and income tax to sales tax. This way, if you live and work in the state, you aren't being taxed more, but people who purchase things in the state pay more, i.e. people that pass through or vacation, or say come here to go to the Super Bowl. You know, tourists.

Yeah any one coming to New Orleans for an event or Baton Rouge for an lsu game gets to pay our government more while my income taxes are cut.

and this will continue. If this (newest tax shuffle) works out I will gladly eat crow. Fool me once… etc.
The point is to move to no income tax. Not everyone has income but everyone buys stuff.
People don’t like this model because it raises taxes on the non producers.
They have also raised sales and income tax in the past. It’s much better to have one of them decreasing than both increasing.

Should be zero tax increase at all. State brings in tons of money already and is top 10 in government assistance per capita. Spending is a problem everywhere but it’s a massive problem with LA gov’t.
