If it’s such a great idea remove the government funding and payouts for the artificial carbon removal. Let it stand on its own.
Agreed. I haven’t argued for credits anywhere. Companies are still saying they’ll do this, and LA can make money from it

“ The leaks were from a monitoring well with incorrect materials, not from the main injection well or the original well.
Why didn’t they use the correct materials?CO2 in contact with H2O forms carbonic acid which is corrosive. Why didn’t the scientists anticipate this and
test different alloys and determine which the well casing should be made of
beforehand.Seems that would have been the prudent thing to do.
What alloy makes up the casing for the main injection well?
Brad LeBlanc also talked about the cement poured around the well casing. He said over time,50 years or so,the cement will deteriorate and that
will be a path for the CO2 to escape.
“The dude makes money buying mineral rights and leasing them to O&G exploration………………………………..Areas that have carbon sequestration will likely be passed over by O&G due to the added complexity.”
So the landowner who did not want CO2 injected on his land has a CO2 plume under his property which eliminates the possibility of an oil or gas well being drilled on his property.
Brad LeBlanc talked about that scenario.

At what cost? The danger of CO2 leaking into the aquifers or pushing saltwater into the aquifers is not worth the risk. Then we would be left with the only possible water source would be Red River.I doubt there is enough water in Red River to supply Grant and Rapides parishes. Then it would take an extended period of time to build treatment plants and install pipelines to supply the rural areas of the parish.
This whole frickin deal reminds me of the Clean Harbor site in Grant parish.Clean Harbors has facilities all over the USA,Mexico and Canada but the only open air burning facility in North America is in Grant Parish. They truck in hazardous waste from all over the country, expired explosives, fireworks, all kinds of crap. They say it’s not hazardous but there are air samplers scattered around, some as far as 9 miles away which have been found cobalt, aluminum and copper, none of which are normally in the air. They have gotten away with it because they have deep pockets and they know which politicians to pay off.

“Companies like Exxon,Occidental and Total know what they are doing when it comes to handling CO2 and pushing it into the ground,”
If you trust oil companies,I don’t know what to tell you.I’m not anti-fossil fuels but I can assure you, they don’t give 2 shites about the people in Vernon,Allen or any other parish in Louisiana. All they care about are the 45Q tax credits,if it wasn’t for that there would be no discussion about CCS.
“It’s a process that has been done for decades”
Only for enhanced oil recovery,They pump it into oil bearing rock to force more oil into the well.In other words they pump it in and it come right back out.

Carbon capture? Plant more trees
It's almost like these people don't realize co2 is plant food.
Kill 2 birds with 1 stone opportunity. Reduce carbon levels and more oxygen. Greener trees and grass.
