Kids are worse when they think the parent can save them.
This every time. It's amazing how most of them suck it up when they don't have a familiar face around to pout to.

You’re not allowed in a surgical room for operation on your kid right? Sit down in the waiting room and read a magazine and chill out Karen!

Dentist here
I would NEVER allow my 5yo child to go back for a procedure without me if she wanted me with her. I think that call should be on the parent and child, not an “office policy: parent stays in waiting room.”
Find a new dentist.. better yet, skip the pediatric dentist and take them to your dentist if it’s someone you have an established rapport with

However, I did know a girl who constantly gave her kid Gatorade and his baby teeth needed to be crowned because they were already rotten from the Gatorade.
This sounds like a load of bullshite. Gatorade rotting baby teeth?
Bottle mouth syndrome, also known as early childhood caries (ECC), is a form of tooth decay that occurs in young children who frequently consume sugary drinks from bottles or sippy cups

The pediatric dentist we took my son to tried to pressure us on every visit to take him to the orthodontist. I’m sure she had some kind of financial arrangement with him but my son had, and still has really nice teeth with no need for braces.
My sister is a pediatric dentist (200 miles away) She confirmed several times that there was no need for an orthodontist and suggested we just take him to our regular dentist. That’s what we did. He’s been old enough the last several years to drive himself to his appointments, but when I used to take him myself they would always comment about “his pretty x rays”. Never once mentioned an orthodontist.
