The investigation found no evidence of sexual assault or sexual misconduct during these trips

According to a report from UK's Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity, additional allegations were made that "some team members were touched in a sexual manner without their consent, that male team members compared sizes of their genitalia and that students were forced to engage in oral sex," but the report states those allegations were deemed to be "without merit" after they were not corroborated in interviews with team members.

"The Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity performs a number of these investigations over the course of each year at the university based on reports," Eric N. Monday, UK’s executive vice president for finance and administration, said at a news conference when asked about those allegations being dismissed. "We trust the process, we trust those individuals. They look at each case individually and they looked at this case and came to those conclusions based on those interviews and other information and evidence that was available to them."

Following the investigation, the university has assigned oversight of the cheerleading program to the athletic department. Sandy Bell, executive associate athletic director, will now lead the program and hire a new coaching staff.

"The annual retreat will be eliminated, and all off-campus trips will be closely supervised,” Bell said in the release. “Cheerleading squad members will be held to the same standards as all our student athletes. It’s a new day for UK cheerleading."

Let me decode this coded language for those unfamiliar with cultural Marxist newspeak:

1) The University “equity” crowd hates everything about pretty girls doing pretty girl stuff on cheerleader squads. If a complaint is made about the cheerleaders to the equity office, someone’s head is going to roll. As much damage as possible will be made to this “patriarchal institution”.

2) Allegations were made of sexual harassment, and forced oral sex! WHAT?!? REALLY?!? Well, yea-no. Trust me, if there was a smidge of truth to those allegations, this would be front page news and some white men would be going to jail with poster sized photos on every front page in America. Those “allegations” were found to be “uncorroborated”. That means, “Somebody who hates the cheerleaders started a rumor, but nobody backed that story up. It was b/s.

3) So the “Equity Office” is now all lathered up about sex crimes and whatnot and as they investigate and find it was just some Adult kids doing adult kid stuff, they have to figure out who to punish without getting sued. They have to take out this patriarchal vestige but there’s really no victim. (If there HAD been, it would have been much better for their purposes to vilify the perpetrators!)

4) So they blamed the coaches for this “outrage” and “bad look” for the university. The coaches get fired and now they can have “a new day for UK Cheerleading”. Pretty soon, there will be some over-weight transsexual members and they will sponsor Ruth Bader Ginsberg Day at the local library.

So the coaches let the kids be kids and not baby sit over them during trips and they are fired?

Wellll, that's sort of the reason it was a big deal. Because the coaches were there.

Their presence essentially makes the party an officially sanctioned team activity. You can't have collegiate athletes getting drunk and naked as part of official team functions. On their own time and initiative, sure. But not with coaches around.

Do you realize what kind of deep shite UK would've been in if something bad had happened? They have to fire the coaches to wipe their hands clean of this.

Maybe, but the article doesn’t say that.

It says the coaches knew some of the cheerleaders brought alcohol and didn’t confiscate it.

What if the cheerleaders were 21?

It doesn’t say they were drinking it during the scheduled event.

Those types of conferences usually have free time when you can go do your own thing.

So college kids got drunk and took their clothes off, and no one was forced to do anything, and the coaches got fired?

Methinks something else is going on here, and someone in admin wanted those coaches gone for other reasons.

Also, I just assumed cheerleaders were part of the athletic department.
