How many of y'all are doing it? If so, what are you using?

My students know that everything is optional. Very few are doing any schoolwork at all.

Do we have a choice right now? I guess we could say frick it and not do anything, if we were terrible parents.

Our school has basically gone to something called MobyMax. Not sure if it’s a paid site but they gave us a login

Really? I have 38 total students and I get work from 37 of them weekly. Only one (an EL) student hasn't turned in any assignments.

Now for a lot of them the quality is lacking but they are at least attempting to do the work

I just said "frick it" with my 9 year old. He's playing video games most of the day so we can get our work done. (and post on TD)

MobyMax is great for social studies. It’s part of my assignments, and I use it when we’re in school.

My nephew stayed with me for a few days when I started. Made him work on it an hour or 2. He finished it. Hasn’t done anything since.

I am about 50-60% of students returning work . Was just informed they will receive the 3rd nine weeks grade at least and the ones who were turning in work could receive up to 10 points added to their 3 rd 9 weeks avg depending on how much they did during this time

Nah. We are treating this like summer at our house. I wish the long summer break would be permanently moved to March - June or April-July. There are more mild weather pretty days during this time that should be spent outside.

Our 10 year old spends about an hour a day keeping up with math etc on the laptop. His teachers have zoom meetings a couple times a week. It’s all optional. I got him books I loved in 4th grade like “My Side of the Mountain” and “Island of the Blue Dolphins.”

He is also doing more chores than ever like mowing and taking care of household laundry. He is definitely not plonking on the iPad all day.

My kid is just doing the daily assignments through the elearning platform. Teacher has zoom meetings MWF to go over anything new and answer questions. All I have been doing is making sure she is completing everything and answering a question here and there. Our schedule is to start first thing and stay until it is done, usually around 10am.

Now the preschooler, I haven't done anything beyond play recordings of the teacher reading a book here and there.

I have ~135 students. Only 20 or so have done anything at all, and less than a handful have done anything since the first week were out.

And her teacher has been really great about putting comments on assignments submitted, pointing out if she needs to go back over something, or missed an assignment.

Damn that sucks, I know I don't have that many since I teach lower grades but I'm offering prizes ($5 gift cards) each week. You complete your assignments you name goes into a bucket and if I pull your name I mail you the card. I'm also having to call each parent once a week and give updates on the work the student is doing and what they are missing.

I don't know why, but this shocks me. Me and the wife make sure our kids do everything. There are a lot more shitty parents out there than I originally thought.

No wonder they want this thing prolonged. This is nothing but a giant fricking holiday to them. Meanwhile, me and my wife both work like normal (both essential), and come home to make sure two kids do their schoolwork.

I have to do that, too. When everything is made optional up front because of the number of families who don’t have access to the necessary technology, it gives you an idea of the socioeconomics of my district. I honestly expected a little more participation, but not much.

I'm actually proud of my district we did a survey on Friday before we let out of kids who didn't have internet access. The district looked at the data along with a parish map and paid for hotspots to be installed so that the students could get their work done.

So every student in the parish has internet access unless they lied about where they lived or if they're staying else where other than home.
