Awesome story. My gut says you should have called attention to yourself and given the boss the jerkoff motion as you drove away, but you probably handled it better than I would. Great story.

Did anyone tell the poor dude it needed to be oiled, and could only be run for so long before it required a cool down period?

I used to shred documents (tens of thousands of pages) for my parents on USN bases for punishment as a kid in the 80s, and the chief made sure I knew about this.
