I'm mechanically inclined and it'd be a passion project.
As far as stock powertrain goes: I'm gathering that for the X308 series, post-2000 models were improved in some ways.
I'd probably try to find the lowest mileage, cleanest 2003 XJR that I could find, preferably in black or possibly that dark emerald(?) color that some of them have.
Or, find one (any model) with a busted engine for cheap that has straight lines and then start exploring potential swaps. I'd be researching which modern Jag powertrains have the best track record for reliability.
I'd like to keep it all Jag if I did a swap.
