So this one time, I was explaining about my older son's (only son at that time) brain damage, and the person I was speaking to responded with, "Oh. He's a vegetable?"

Wow. That will hit you in the gut. So many answers went through my head, but "No, we prefer to think of him as meat," was the one I wanted to say SO MUCH.

I said nothing.
