I care more about our armed forces dying and dealing with the injuries of war than I do a selfish individual who took his life because he was to depressed.

I care more about people who died for something rather than people who died for selfish reasons.

People need some perspective.

The worlds priorities are so fricked up. It is extremely rare that we even hear the names of our soldiers who die in some shithole fighting against terrorism. And then a celebrity kills himself or overdoses and America mourns their deaths.

This!! I wonder when they'll nominate him for sainthood?

had he have died in a tragic accident or of some medical condition i would be more willing to hear about it

This is the problem right here. He DID die of a medical condition: severe depression. He struggled with, like cancer, for nearly his whole life. He went into remission for some time, then it reared its ugly head and took him. The depressed mind doesn't reason like you do. The depressed mind doesn't think, "I can't leave my wife and kids. What am I doing?" It's not about selfishness and any one on here who has friends or family who have suffered from depression or severe depression can tell you that.

You can care little about Robin Williams' death. That's fine. He didn't affect you in the way he did others, most of whom never met the man, but stop being ignorant. It isn't cowardly. It isn't selfish. It isn't the short way out. It is what it is: a disease of the mind.

I think its selfish,

This!

Pissed that he chose the way out he did. Pissed that he's getting all the media attention while there are real heroes fighting the same mental battles (with much more justifiable reasons) that he allegedly did and what kind aof attention do they get? A visit to a poorly staffed VA center and a prescription for antidepressants?
