I have searched but can't find a comprehensive list, looking for purple hearts and bronze medals given out during the War on Terrorism.

Unfortunately those are voluntary list only.

You would think the government would keep a list of everyone with easy access.

That's going to be a long list. I'd be surprised if there's a comprehensive list of bronze stars in one place. They give those out (minus "v" device) left and right.

You can't even find Mattis' bronze star online. Blows my mind.

*Disregard, just found it. Amazing because I've looked hard in the past, someone requested it and got his citation finally

You cant even find out if someone served without a formal request to the gov.

Depends, I was a recruiter, a few ways to find out. Would have to be the last 20 years max though.

You could ask to see their DD-214, although they're not always completely accurate either. Why are you trying to find out? If somebody is embellishing their record it's pretty sad but unless they're actively comitting some kind of fraud there's not much to be done about it.

There's no fricking way I'm allowing the Gannett Group (Military Times) access to my info without a court order.

Since you brought it up, that is the reason why. And not because I want anything done to him but because it would keep me from having any further dealings with him.

Must be AF. Probably a certain number of combat sorties/hours for a Air Medal.

Watched earlier where the medal of honor was won and documented on video.

Baw saved 20+ fellow soldiers while taking 16 rounds before giving out.
