NOLA will not get better in any foreseeable future. When it comes to taxes, crimes, infrastructure, and services, Jefferson is paradise by comparison (not saying much). Just make sure you are on the East Bank and avoid a few places there.

Plenty corruption but the government is functioning and largely responsive.

If you are holding out for NOLA becoming better, I hope you are really young. If it ever happens, it will be more than a decade. Otherwise, I'd suggest leaving the state. Not much happening here unless you are in one of a few occupations, or you have solid family or social connections.

Agreed. It was eye opening to actually see my tax dollars at work when I moved to Texas. No state income is nice too.

Pretty sure if you moved 400 miles in any direction, you'd land in a place 100x better in comparison than the complete shithole Louisiana is.

Literally surrounded by Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Arkansas with booming populations, low taxes, and functional governments, but millions of people think moving 5 minutes down the street fixes all the issues in LA.
