Yeah, we get less money than anyone else and have a ton of missions... We're basically the blue-suited step child of the uniformed services (not military)

Hint: All interservice rivalry is in jest and good spirit. Of course you, probably never served anywhere.

That was also a little nudge. I'm in the coast guard.

Baw

By try hard I meant, navy guys will always try and out drink everyone at every bar and try and hard leg every chick ever. Or at least that's how it was in Norfolk and Jacksonville.

dad was in the marines

called them "canoe club"

I don't doubt their baddassery and would be very thankful for their assistance should I require it, dunno why they need to be a "military branch" though

I get that question a lot we had people watching over that shite all the time. I would have like to have gone to another ship, but there was no ships on the coast with my rate.

I had a great time down south.. No cabana boys though.

Well I worked extensively with Coasties, Brits and Canadians in 5th Fleet interdicting shipments along the balochistan smuggling network and hasish highway. They always reported 1-2 tons less in interdictions than the smugglers claimed to lose when they got back to their paymasters.

Well by "worked with", I was on the CT end and more worried about funding. I never got to direct a VBSS mission.

I was a FN when I was on the ship... So I stood watch and worked all the time. Nothing tactical. Well besides fueling helos... That was pretty

My little brother just finished his 6 year stint in the CG. He was stationed in San Diego the first two years where he met his now wife, busted cocaine smugglers somewhere in the Caribbean, brought home a bunch of Cuban cigars, went Salmon fishing in Alaska, and lots of other really cool shite his first 2-3 years. The last few years he spent in BR doing vessel inspections on the Missisippi River and minor spill accidents. He says he's happy to be out but I know he wishes he would've stayed in. He's back in school now pursuing a degree with the CG paying for it.

That's what I'm gonna do. I have until 2018, but I'm gonna try and get out before that. Finish my degree and get in the real world.

Yeah they have "windows" or whatever where you can exit early before your times up without consequences. He almost left 2 years ago but stayed to get some more certifications and a pay raise. CG is definitely the sweetest deal out of all the branches.
