Is it possible that we're ahead of the curve?

We just started testing. We're going to be getting results from people that were sick last week and before.
In reality, we've had people sick since before Mardi Gras but weren't tested.
If we would count all the people that have already been sick, what's the possibility that we're more toward the middle of our curve than the beginning?

It is possible.
The problem is, this is brand new. The nature of brand new things is that we don't know what we don't know and to be careless right now is down right ignorant.

I'm pretty sure I'm one of the folks you are talking about. The Wednesday after Mardi Gras I was sick with something that has all the symptoms I'm reading about.
I don't think I'll ever know if I was positive but I think I was.

I would agree to a certain extent. The problem is that the more who are infected, the more we will see older people become infected and potentially die of it.
The problem here with this situation is not the numbers of people who are infected. It's that we have zero immunity to this new virus that attacks our lungs and respiratory system. It's new and we know only a fraction of what there is to know about it. That's the main problem. We don't know what we don't know.

Yes. It will take until at least Friday or Saturday for the data to catch up. And that's only in states that have been testing a lot (Louisiana, NY, Illinois, Washington).

The problem is the hospital visits that require ventilators, to be specific. There just aren't enough beds or equipment if we can't slow this down.
