I find it to be an alpha move. Just because you have a "man cave" doesn't mean you are only relegated to that part of the house.
You own the whole house, and will be wherever you damn well please in the house. But in addition to that, you have a specific room for fun.
You aren't going to hang sports memorabilia and have a bar in your formal living room.
