My mom would have told me the same. My parents once bungee corded me to the ice chest raft when we were tubing with a large group. They figured I wouldn’t get left behind by anyone if I was with the beer. They forgot to calculate what would happen when the tube flipped over and I was still tied to it. This is tame.
Everyone clutching their pearls about this are the reason kids today are so soft.

at that age, the neighborhood kids would have already had that slide set up and everyone would have been jumping off that cliff. Probably wouldve named it Thrill Hill

This thread is full of what's making the younger generation helpless lackies....helicopter parents.
My dad wouldn't have even been there in the 80s. I'd have been doing that all day long without a parent in sight and I was better off for it.
