No it’s not normal unless she brought a pineapple. With no pineapple she is just crazy.

I think a polite introduction is important. You went way out of your way there and had a great outcome but I’m always wary of creating some annoying even stressful relationship so I usually take it gradually in these situations.

We live in a rural area, every one owns at least 5 acres. I pretty much stay to myself other than the friendly wave when I'm cutting grass. On the other hand, my wife knows all the neighbors . I accuse her of being the Mrs Kravitz of the neighborhood
