Insurance advice/question

Here is the deal, I went to a walk in clinic today to have a prescription renewed. When I went to check in the Nurse informed me that my insurance was canceled.
I left last October to go to basic training, I got back in December and started working again in January.
I spoke to my fire chief today and he found out that the lady who handles our payroll canceled my insurance when I left. As far as I know I was never informed that my insurance was canceled. I also checked my last pay stub and say that the YTD total was ~$65. My chief said its possibly from when they charged me before it got canceled, but that was last year. I dont know where those charges would have come from.
Should I call one of those law firms I see on TV to get my $65 bucks back?
ETA: Changed the name or the title, hopefully get a wider range of answers.

I think you should forget that civilian insurance and use TriCare.

I think you should chalk it up as a life experience and move on.

I've been there.
