Brake tags are what the inspection stickers are called in Orleans Parish. They used to have a contraption at the city-run inspection station that you drove onto and then slammed on your brakes. It measured, I suppose, the stopping power of your brakes. Or maybe not if you attached a five dollar bill to your application.
