Well, I know no iron can be imported from Russia or China, or that's what the rule was a year ago

Yeah but a lot of other products can and India is another option. A lot of companies are relaxing their requirements on not using imported products due to having to cut cost and some of the products being well made. I have sold viton hammer union seals that were imported and customers were happy with them. We usually give free samples on all seals before the customers start buying.

I've been in contact with several people selling on there. Trying to see more/better options.

Yeah. I import consumer goods from China and Vietnam. And I export forest products like lumber and plywood and all that.

I can give you some advice

I would do some serious research about delivery lead time, and QC. Ask your customers if they are OK with purchasing Chinese material. What's gonna happen when you buy 3 cargo containers or $40,000+ worth of flanges, valves, separating tanks, O-rings, filters, etc... and the product doesn't meet specification or your customers are not pleased. Saving $10,000 today could cost your business $100,000+ in the long run.

All good advice but already considered. There are only certain items I will be importing. The majority of them are products my customers are already using imports on. I know which products competitors are importing and get reports on how well they are holding up. I'll still mainly deal with domestic products.

I used to do safety equipment auditing/inspections all over the gulf.

I was in Geismar once and did a stress test to a safety harness (made in China). All I did was pull on it hard to see if the SRL would engage and the lanyards popped off just from me tugging it.

Just imagine if someone fell.....If it failed a basic test of me pulling on it, just imagine someone falling 20+ feet weighing 250+....

About a week later I found out that plant did a site wide stand down to check EVERY safety harness on the property and all that were made in China were sent right on back to the vendor.....I bet they had a hellstorm.
