If you described the state of the world today to yourself 10 years ago, how'd you react?

I was thinking about that today as I was at the grocery surrounded by people in masks and gloves. It felt very surreal.

I’d think it’s pretty weird how basic whore sorority girls that everyone was smashing can make a living on Instagram with photos of themselves holding their hair up in various positions.

It’s not the disease, the people wearing the masks, taking preventive measures, none of that is surreal

It’s the widespread retardation. People hoarding toilet paper, acting like fricking idiots. State governments going full totalitarian, impeding travel and harassing churches. Countries blatantly lying about their infection rates/ death tolls. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills

GEOTUS is a time traveler so he’s already seen all of this. This is inter dimensional chess.

2010 version of me would shite his pants when I described what's going on. 2020 version of me would shake my head "no" when he went to clean himself up with toilet paper.

Just the way most people fall in line with government "recommendations".
No examination.
Just repeating phrases the man in the TV has uttered. And happily accepting restrictions preventing then from earning a living.
Just total group think.

The decline of a democracy and the beginning of a socialist nation.

Oh how easily people have let the government tell em what to do, how to do it, and for how long. Once government gets a taste of total control they will not want to relinquish its hold.

Closer to 9/11 in the Bush/Cheney days this was the kind of thing I was talking about professionally all the time. Dirty Bomb Attack, Loose Nuke, Biological Attack, Pandemic, Environmental Catastrophe. It seemed like everyone was trying to create some possible scenario and then fund some capacity, or commission another study.

Under the Obama administration we left the defend the homeland stuff and turned our attention to a bunch of competing policy objectives and homeland security became less important.

This administration looks like it has gone back to peer competitor type threats.

ETA: If I had created a pandemic scenario that killed geriatrics and the morbidly obese, I think I would have been laughed at.

I’d probably have said, “Must mean that Obama won a second term.”
