Well, here is the bottom line. Did you sign anything? If you did, I am sure that in the "small print" at the bottom, you authorized them to run credit checks. Unfortunate, but I suspect it is all on you. Good luck.

Why would you be giving a car salesman your SSN unless you were doing a credit application or finalizing a purchase? They have no need for your SSN just to appraise your trade in
