If you reported to me then I would have told you to book some time with the new Sr Manager and help him with this project. There really wouldn't have been an opportunity for you to make this poor decision.

OP, I would’ve helped the guy. Especially after my CFO asked me to. And I would have made sure everyone knew I helped him. But not in a braggy way. Seems like a no brainer.
