I need some advice on purchasing a new truck.

So I've been looking for a new compact truck for a while now and have decided on another Tacoma. How much should I be able to get the dealer to knock off and how can I keep them from bending me over the tailgate (figuratively...no butt stuff). I know Toyota does not like to wiggle much on pricing.

Your lucky to get 5% off. Tacomas are a shortage in most dealerships

Will you have a trade in? Sometimes, it's easier to get the salesman to lean on the appraiser for a higher $ figure than it is to get them to knock off sales price.

i assume youre going to trade in your old tacoma? seek loyalty deals and then get them to up your trade in value.

Try houston, san antonio or dallas for the best deals.

Disclaimer: I work for the used arm of a Toyota/Chevy dealer in Montana.
$1500-2k off sticker is about as much as you can expect on a new Taco. As someone else said, poke and prod for higher trade value on your older one. You can always find some money in your trade. Be up front and open about what you want and what you're looking to do. Makes the salesman's and the manager's jobs easier. The more we like you, the more inclined we are to treat you well.

My advice?
Don't buy a new vehicle.
Buy a nice used one, and pay cash for it.

We got a RAV4 for 5k off sticker, but that's not a taco. Toyota has $2k dealer cash back right now though

In 2012, I bought a fully loaded, limited package Tacoma from Ray Brandt Toyota in Metairie. The sticker was $39,000 and I bought it for $31,000. They were easy to deal with and have a great service department as well.
Not to mention, a Tacoma holds the shite out of it's value. They gave me $15,000 for my 06 Tacoma with 92,000 miles.
