I've had it for years. Like others have said, it happens most when I'm sleeping on my back but has also occurred when i was sleeping on my stomach and on my side. I have had the sensation of someone on my chest, heard the noises in the other room, the feeling of doom, sense someone watching from the corner of the room (sometimes laughing). It's pretty horrible. Sometimes I can force myself to jerk out of it and wake up. For me it tends to happen when I get too much sleep or take a long nap.

I've only ever had it happen to me once, when in college. Thankfully I didn't see anything but I remember waking up in the middle of the night and hearing something call to me by name over and over. After a minute or so I was able to move and wake up but I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It's still the most afraid I've ever been.

Sleep Paralysis can be a sign of sleep apnea, FYI. It was what tipped me off to mine.
