Might also consider resale value. Look at other houses in the area. If they all have central air and your house has mini splits, it could cause future buyers to balk. Not saying anything about mini splits, but resellability is something I consider when looking at houses.

If you don't need to cool but a few rooms, window shakers are the best/most economical way to go. Watch the humidity in those closed off rooms though.

If it’s an open attic, it isn’t that difficult to run duct work.
