I got married in Vegas

Screw spending tens of thousands on a wedding. We were trying to buy our first house.

That’s not how it’s done.

Parents pay for the daughter’s 1st wedding. Groom’s family picks up the rehearsal dinner.

Any variance, at all, from this is trashy.

Did a small wedding (50 people)..more than enough. Paid in full out of my pocket.

If I had to do it all again, I'd just go to the courthouse.

My wife and I took Friday off work and went to the courthouse with our parents and got married.

Didn't have to deal with any stress and saved a metric frickton of money.

Hard to convice the bride to do this, no?

Not really. She was OK with it..was more a respect thing to her family/father.

I see, so the majority of the people you know paid for their own as well? Or were they all minors when they got married?

I didn't ask them, I didn't give a frick enough to care.

I was in my early 30's when I got married. I figured it was my responsibility to pay for my choices.

that’s cool. Good move

Think of all the better things you could do with saving 20,30 or 40k on a wedding. It's a no brainer in this day and age.

If you have the means to throw a 100k wedding, go nuts, I'm not here to judge. I'd love to attend.

That’s awesome

We were married by a little Asian lady in the little white chapel in Vegas. One of the employees was our witness. I had on a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. I think it cost $200.

I'm still just as stuck as you frickers that dropped 30k
