Moon Landrieu wanted to build that freeway for economic development purposes. He admitted years later that it was a good thing he lost that battle because a freeway there would have been a disaster for the French Quarter.

If it is anything like the other stretches on Claiborne there is still a good mix of both.

Damn. I’ve been to SF many times in the last 20 years. Never knew that freeway existed prior to ‘91
