It's not hard to do, you just have to fill out some paperwork, but we found out when my sister passed away that you're supposed to have it done 30 days before you die, since you can predict that and all.

It is a simple process. I have donated my body to Georgetown University Medical Center. Just call a hospital (usually a teaching hospital) and ask for the forms.

You should be advised that the hospital may not take your body for a number of reasons, i.e., missing organs or limbs; widespread cancer; certain diseases; not getting the body to the morgue within a certain period of time; and, obviously, if you've already been embalmed, to name a few.

After the hospital has your body for up to 24 months, they have a memorial service for the donors and family members may take the remains or the remains are placed in a mausoleum niche at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

It seems like a good thing for me to do.
