Is there supposed to be a way to tune these things?

Wrong. They made the switch from analog to digital in i believe february of 2010. The picture is GOAT too. People my age (34) and younger seem to have no clue either. The ohio state Minnesota was watched on bunny ears at my home thursday night and my tv never has had a better picture

The Tech Board answer is that there's no difference between an analog and digital antenna. Same goes for HD/1080p/4K. The difference is in the tuner inside the TV. You can take a 1980s rabbit ear antenna, plug it into a 4K TV and the same local channels as a state of the art 2021 8k antenna. If you take a "digital" antenna and plug it into a 1980s TV you won't get a single channel. You will need one of those digital to analog converter boxes that the government was giving away for free a while back.

It doesn't have anything to do with the antenna, it's about the receiver... Of course an analog TV won't work, stations no longer broadcast in analog...

I assume it is an inside antenna? Also what is the range vs your distance from the tv stations. My antenna has a box that the coax connects to that must be plugged in and turned on or it's not worth a shite.

Are the tv stations you want to get originating from your city? In Metairie I picked up all NO stations no problem. On the Northshore it took some trial and error to get those stations and some I only get spotty.

Might need a more sensitive (read pricier) antenna if you are any distance from the source signal

Antennas are designed to operate within particular segments of the RF spectrum. It is irrelevant to the antenna if the RF signal it is receiving is AM, FM, Analog video, or digital data.

We didn't have an antenna at work and this Westbanker I work with suggested using a paper clip placed in the "antenna screw in hole." I was like huh? Low and behold that shite worked after doing a channel search..

That is because you live right near the transmitters for New Orleans.

WWL is smack dab in the Westbank and most of the others are just across the River in Chalmette.

It was a digital paper clip.
