One of my neighbors had to abandon his car in front of Verizon store there. His car had water up to the roof. Barely could tell his car was red.
I surely hope the stores come back and that this flood doesn't scare off future stores. It really is nice to have all those stores there.

I think the entire shopping center is a total loss.
I think I read the developer thinks the loss is around $30 million.

Wow. The magnitude of this whole event is staggering. It's just unreal.

If you look at the photos closely, you can see the south side of I-12 is dry. The barrier in the middle is holding the water back.
Heck, you can see grass, and the black road! The barrier in the middle IS acting as a dam!
The Mayor of Walker is right. If that barrier wasn't there, the flooding would be more evenly distributed on both sides of I-12. Look at the photo - it's obvious!

What are you talking about, the south side of I-12 got hammered

The roadway. One side is 6' water, on one side of the barrier. The other side, you can see the asphalt. You can only see 1/2 of the road.
Look at AutoYesClown's 1st photo. The left side is at least 6' deeper than the right. You can't even see the westbound lane. The eastbound lane is dry!
Imagine 6' water X however many miles back it is holding it.

I went to Juban crossing yesterday and it was flooded by 3 ft of water. The other side of Juban was just as bad.

Explain that?

Highways, particualarly interstates ALWAYS act locally as dams. Water is not supposed to overtop interstate highways.

So let's just do away with interstates so everyone floods evenly. Right?
