I know the Swaggarts pretty well. They walk the talk regardless of what people here say. I see nothing in their lives that luxurious compared to what people here claim. Their vehicles are leased. Their home is nice but 40 years old. Everything they have is poured into building that television network. Lavish vacations? They take like one a year to some condo on the beach. That old man at 86 works from 5AM-late in the evening 7 days a week. He records music and preaches. They employ about 500 people in the Baton Rouge area and always offer their facilities to Entergy, state, etc. when disasters hit at absolute zero cost.
Some of yall need to give these folks a break. They not like some of these swindlers on TV preaching money cometh at folks and driving Bentleys. Any doofus can lease a bottom class Benz for $400 a month.
Agree. Say what you will about Jimmy, but he's walked pretty straight and narrow since his downfall. He was the face of televangelism and it was only a matter of time before he made a mistake that would knock him down a peg.
I don't know what's more impressive, that a preacher could come from that family, or that a preacher from that family only made ONE career killing mistake.

How big was his congregation in the 80s before the scandals. Bigger than healing place at its peak? How big was healing place at its peak?
Apparently from reading this thread with the current TV/radio network he probably has an even bigger "outreach" now. Was young back in the 80s but from what I remember seeing/hearing the congregation was probably the largest in Louisiana and turning people away from services, so I would guess significantly larger.
