Think Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.
And Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the only therapy with demonstrated efficacy. It's intense.

Oh and also think "if you break up with me, I'll kill myself (after I kill you)"

I've had some experience with bp, but it'd be a waste of time going into details. All I can say is, if you're strong enough to look for answers, you're strong and intelligent enough to find them--and enjoy improved health and a much higher quality of life--things that you deserve as rewards for your commitment.

This cannot be stressed enough
I could see the relationship was going to die a painful death and urged her to get treatment. She never, ever did. She absolutely refused. And she knew it was the one thing that might have saved our relationship. Breaking up with that girl was the hardest thing I've ever had to do because I had real feelings for her, but you eventually realize that it isn't getting better, so you either accept living in misery or you move on.

But seriously, you are taking a massive step. So good on you for that. Lots of respect.

I've read that dialectical based therapy is the best way to deal with personality based disorders. Is this the type of counseling that you will be involved in? Good luck to you.

I'm glad I'm not so bad that I try to ruin people's lives after we break up

Never seen that

But yes I'm doing dbt. Thankfully there's the Houston dbt center close to me. My Dr said they have a therapist on call at all times for when you're thinking crazy and need help calming down

My friend was married to girl with BPD. She seems normal most of the time but is really a conniving, evil, insecure person who still tries to sabotage his life and claims it's his fault. When counselors caught on to what was really going on and confronted her, she just found new counselors. The older she gets and the more her looks fade, the more crazy she has become. People can really tel she's bat shite crazy nowadays and want nothing to do with her.

My advice: don't have kids

It was only with me. She was practically an angel with everyone else. Like Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.

Treatment is tough because it requires that someone with BPD accept that they have a problem and remain in therapy. They rationalize their behavior so badly that they usually don't think they are doing anything wrong. Why change? There's nothing wrong with them in the first place because they are always right.

Thank you

And thank you cwil. My ex made me stop with the constant freaking out and I did. I guess some people just don't listen

Unfortunately I still dealt with the same feelings but I had to keep them to myself until I had worked some rationality and logic in

Good for you

Keep at it. The work is worth it. You will be happier for it, I swear. As will those who love you.

It means you're a sociopath or as close as you can get to it.

No big deal, many women are BPD

I'm so happy for you that you've already demonstrated an understanding and the courage to confront things. It takes a strong person to be able to face themselves like that. I wish I could have convinced my ex to stop freaking out. Every fight had to be the worst fight in the world.

Keep up with the therapy. It's efficacious because it helps you identify irational ideas and actions and replace them with rational ones. It's harder with borderlines, I believe, because they truly live in their own world. They perceive things completely different from how other people without such disorders do.

BPD is in the same cluster of personality disorders as narcissistic, histrionic, and antisocial. There is a lot of crossover, honestly.

I agree. I think histrionic was removed in the dsm V or will be in VI

It's sad because we really do have delusional beliefs that frick with our heads. But if you can wait it out, you'll usually see you were wrong. Harley had me download the find my friends app so I'd know he was riding all day and not just ignoring me. There are ways to help
