A bonus not for Darth (because he gets all tank related stuff): Why do the tank's sides look like it is furrowed and what was it called?
It's OBVIOUSLY an early form of stealth technology which the Germans dubber Wünderstealth.

Got Whitman right off the bat...helluva tank commander. OT - did you study any of his tactics while a tanker?
Yes. His picture was hanging in our barracks.
But if you want to see the top all time tanker, this guy was it...
(does not really fit the "Nazi-superman" mold does he?)

Can't remember his name but he was the top scoring American fighter ace of WWII.

Not a bad guess. But it was actually a coating the Germans applied to their tanks to keep magnetic mines from sticking to them. It was called Zimmerit.
Here's a close of a wave pattern it on a Tiger II. This was the most common pattern.
They also had other patterns though...

He definitely does not look the typical German soldier. All those kills, PAK guns, etc. Incredible, just incredible.
BTW, how much of their tactics (his, Whitman's, etc) are integated into ours now?

Richard Bong; 40 confirmed kills in the P-38. How was he killed?

Well my time was 20 years ago so I can't say what they're teaching them now. But basically between guys like Guardian, Patton, Abrams, and tank commanders like Whittman & Knispel, they made US Armor doctrine that we were taught in the 80's & 90's.

Ahhhh. I know he did not die in combat but I'm drawing a blank.

Hartman (or Hartmann?) He was the top fighter ace of the Luftwaffe and if memory serves me right the tops in all of the war for any air force.

It's always amazed at some of the tallies that were racked up on the Eastern front.
Here we go....
1. Identity the make, model, and country of origin of this aircraft.
2. Identify the national markings of this aircraft.
BONUS: Who is that drawn on the side of the aircraft's fuselage?
