Tamiya is hands-down my favorite, too. Their P-51s, P-47s, and F4Us are the best of the best.
Got this in the stack that I am dying to build:

I knew they lost a lot there, but I have never looked at the numbers. I always thought the Schweinfurt (sp?) mission where they lost around 60 or so.
You made me doubt myself so I went and checked. Schweinfurt was actually two missions carried out side by side at the same time. Two separate formations hit two separate targets at the same time. Operation Tidal Wave on the other hand was a single formation and single target. Guess that's why it's considered to be the biggest "single mission" loss.

They lost more bombers on that mission than any other mission of the war.... and that's saying something.
1 short of 1/3 of the B-24s over the target were lost. It's a miracle we didn't lose Jimmy Stewart in that mission. He was assigned to his unit stateside the same month as Tidal Wave.
A couple of months shift, in one direction could have placed him over the target that did.
He did make at least 1, if not both raids on Shchweinfurt(he was notorious for hitching a ride and not logging the mission - he got there so late, he didn't want the brass to get scared they were going to get Jimmy Stewart killed by flying so many missions), which is more courage that you'll find in all of Hollywood today, combined.
He also bombed Berlin.
ETA: Timing not right for him to have been on first Schweinfurt - that was the same month as Tidal Wave - It was mostly/all B-17s, while Tidal Wave was all B-24s.

Oh yeah. Got the same kit in the stash. I plan on rescribing it and going all crazy. We need to post some of our builds...may have to do that tonight.

F-106 Delta Dart. I've got the plastic kit in 1/48 and had a great flying RC one until it suffered an uncontrolled flight into terrain.

I've got a buddy who use to do RC planes. I mean the big ones with like 5' or 6' wingspans. He mangled the fingers on one of his hands a few years ago and that pretty much ended his interest in RC planes.

Wild guess - U.S. Army, Arizona/West Texas/Mexico.

I do electric. Most of mine are foamies - built out of foam insulation board.
They're relatively cheap to build, and given my flying skills, it is wise to not invest much in or get too emotionally attached to them.

The headgear isn't right. Those are British hats so it is somewhere in the commonwealth.
Best I can do.

Alright... Let's see who can get this.....
What unit wore this patch?
What did this unit do of historic note that neither the 101st or 82nd can say they did?

I have a Park Flyers small P-51 that I fly sometime. My son goes all crazy watching it.

Close. That's the British Somaliland Camal Corps in the interwar period.

I'm guessing some airborne division that fought in the Pacific?
