My FIL who is a belligerent atheist actually gets super pissed off when people say they pray for him, to the point that he will mock them to their faces. His half-brother is a Baptist preacher who basically took over their dad's funeral and made it really born-again religious against his last wishes.
I'm not a particularly pious person but I ask others to pray for me and thank them when they do. If I find myself before the pearly gates in the next life, I want to have lots of good references on my application.

I do appreciate that people think enough of me to pray for me

sat through many a grace sayings at dinners with family, friends, and clients. I’m an atheist and never once felt raped. Shut the frick up, bow your head, say amen and move the frick on with your day.
a dinner prayer for blessings on family and friends is not the thread topic.
I was informed that a prayer circle at a particular southern Baptist church in lake Charles prayed for me for years.
that's the kind of crime of passion this thread is about.

She has a point however poorly she comes across. It
gets me to the point of anger when people pray for things for me that I don’t want.
The most common example would be my family praying for me to return to being a Catholic again to my face. I prayed for their conversion to The Church of Satan one time in response (note: We are Methodist)
