I said overweight, not obese. One of my coworkers ran one fairly recently. The guy has a pot belly, but trained and ran the Disney marathon in December. Another guy I know is borderline obese (used to be pretty massive), but still runs four miles each day. His dad was a giant, so there is definitely some genetic, psychological, or environmental factors at play.
I wanted to clarify as I pictured somebody in Walmart motor wheel chair with a 26.2 sticker on the back!
With the Galloway method and other similar approaches I have also seen it is entirely possible to have a few extra pounds and "run" a marathon. But let's be real, these folks aren't "marathoners" nor are they elite athletes. Most of the ones I know "have fun" a marathon (and eat/drink like crud). And even then they are thick or a few extra lbs not fat or obese. Interestingly, the few that I have pulled into multi-discipline sports have all shed that extra weight with the same amount of time commitment just by diversifying their workouts.

Fat people are disgusting.
For me it depends on how fat they are.
10-15lbs doesn't bother me.
Some people are way more than that.

You can eat "healthy" all week and go off the rails for one day and erase the entire week of work. As far as the overweight marathoners you know, I'm sure their diet isn't great most of the time bc you can't run enough to erase a bad diet. Now, if someone's hormones are messed up then losing weight can be really hard even if eating right.

I do know people who run marathons, eat amazingly, and are still overweight.

This is a few months old. Think they fired him for his rant.
He was suspended for three days and re-instated. He's the husband of a friend of my wife.
