On a rainy spring or summer weekend day, sippin some beer or whatever on the patio, those songs really do some work.

Gaines had the technical prowess of Ed King, the speed of Collins, and the feel of Gary. He was far and away the best guitar player they've ever had. Including the other 40 guitar players they've had since plane crash in the now cover band/shell of what they once were.
No knock on them for carrying on. And if you want to get technical, you could ALMOST consider Ricky Medlocke an OG member as he recorded the drum intro for I ain't the one. But I almost cringe at hearing anything out of them now.
There is no greater album, to me anyways, than the live album from 1976. One More From The Road.
