RIP Gus Weill

He mentored a ton of influential political consultants after settling in here in Baton Rouge after LSU and a stint in the service. He wrote over a dozen well received books and plays combined that appeared both on and off Broadway.

He ran campaigns for politicos as varied from Dave Treen to EWE and got his start working with Jimmie Davis and on JFK’s Louisiana campaign, though he was closest to Former Governor Big John McKeithen.

Lived a fascinating life. Sort’ve a mold breaking personality and career that spanned a huge swath of some of the most interesting political times our State has ever seen.

RIP

Commasplice after the first adjective. Didn’t capitalize the first letter of the 2nd sentence. Didn’t include punctuation at the end of the 2nd sentence.

Somewhere, your English teacher softly weeps.

Literally three folks above you-myself included as the OP-have expressed regret that he’s gone. So it’s obvious that poorly constructed string of thoughts you posted is wrong as well.

So much fail packed into one response...nevermind the inherent callous embicility. Pretty impressive in a negative way.

Although I did not care for his left-wing liberal politics, he was entertaining to listen to when he was on the radio. Butt hurt over the Trump presidency will probably be the official cause of death.

Grassroots Gus? Didn’t he move to like New York or something?

Also very down to earth and an easy person to converse with. Hadn't seen Gus in twenty years but he has
always been in my thoughts. Good memories for sure.

I met he and Strother in 1980. My dad was backing a gubernatorial candidate. Very kind man. RIP Sir!
