that's how they get to be billion dollar insurance companies
If the other driver is found to be at fault their insurance will pay the medical bills up to the policy limit. Worst case his will pay.
95% of the time the people using personal injury lawyers are trashy and just trying to make some quick money because they are poor and made bad life decisions

Did their insurance deny your claim or did they not have any?
He said the accident happened yesterday. Insurance company doesn't even have a police report from the wreck yet and probably hasn't even gotten statements from all involved parties yet.
If they didn't have any insurance, then not sure what good a lawyer would be since they probably don't have any money or assets worth going after.

As someone who works in the insurance industry, I will admit that insurance companies (even the best ones) don't get it right every time and often frick things up. They make it almost impossible to NOT get an attorney after an accident that involves medical bills.
I was injured in a crash years ago. Nothing serious, had soft tissue injuries and a bulging disk in my neck that required multiple injections and some physical therapy for a few weeks. I was lucky. Well, Progressive REFUSED to pay any of my medical bills until after I settled the case. They wanted me to settle quick but I was afraid of doing that before knowing the full extent of my neck injury. What if I had settled quick before knowing the extent of my injury and then later on it required more treatment? I would've been left with thousands of dollars in medical bills that I would've been responsible for. Progressive wanted me to settle quick so they would be off the hook for those future costs.
When they told me I had to settle and close the case before they would issue a single penny for bills, I told them they'd hear from an attorney. I got on the phone with an attorney after that.
Ended up with a little bit of money. Nothing outrageous but certainly more than I felt I deserved. The injury ended up resolving itself for the most part, although I still have some minor issues with my neck and shoulder every now and then.
My point is don't judge someone for getting an attorney after a car accident. Some insurance companies almost FORCE you to do so after an accident due to their own stupid policies.
