1. Anyone that 894's a ticket is an absolute moron

Why? That's what it's for.

I know, I know...you need that for the time you blow a .35! Most people don't do that and if you're the type that gets a ticket once every few years (once again, the norm), use the 894.

Besides, here's a secret...I've heard that they're lazy about checking (to be fair, I do not have first hand experience on that score) and can just use it again, even if you are technically not eligible. Barring something crazy, courts just want the cash.

I've used three 894s or 892s, whatever they're called.

894 is for misdemeanors. 892.1 is SPECIFICALLY for traffic ordinance violations.

Wanna know the rest ay? Buy the rights.

For some reason, I thought the fines on causeway were like those on the Trace in/around Jackson, doubled. Is int some type of Federal land or something in that order?

Well, in St Tammany they called it an 894. They also don't make you do traffic school for minor speeding.

They can call it whatever the hell they want as long as it's off the record.

I'll pass along your thoughts to the judge sometime next decade when I'm back for my next ticket.

There is an article 894. Basically you would have been screwed if you got a misdemeanor shortly after since it was used up for a traffic violation. The Code of Criminal Procedure doesn't change parish to parish

Fair enough and it's possible I got the number wrong.

The general point, however, was that there is some article or code or whatever that allows infrequent offenders to keep a ticket off their record, which is what the OP was looking for.

My legal advice was free so it's on him to make sure he's using the right numbers.
