Good luck with that. Just be patient with him.
My therapist had helped a lot with this. I basically prepare myself ahead of time knowing how he will behave. Helps to maintain my cool and not get so easily frustrated with him.
He doesn't blow up my phone several times a day anymore so that is good. I think it is cause he doesn't want to hear what I tell him anymore though. I took him to see a therapist last weekend. He didn't want to go....but he promised me he would at least give her a chance for a few sessions. I think he would greatly benefit from it if he gave it a chance. So we shall see.

Nurse you are a saint.
As for me I don’t need alcohol other than I enjoy it and shall have some by noon.

Just tell him if he doesn’t behave you’re going to send him back to Louisiana. That should straighten him out.

My husband tells me all the time he will gladly buy my dad a first class one way ticket to Louisiana.
My dad just can't let it go that he no longer lives in Louisiana. Tells me all the time now the biggest mistake of his life was agreeing to move out here. He seems to think they would have been just fine staying in BR. Thinks he could have easily just gotten their flooded trailer fixed with the 19k they got from FEMA or bought another trailer in the park that didn't flood with it. Tells me his brother(who is also getting old and having health issues) could have helped them out whenever they needed it.

Damn. You basically gave a shite ton of time out of your life to help him. I am so sorry to hear this.

Damn Nurse. That’s what you get for trying to do something good for someone. That sucks that he can’t just appreciate all the effort you and B put into helping him start a new life. No good deed goes unpunished

Yup. Lots of time and money. And my husband and I put fertility stuff on pause then (we had been doing treatments right before the flood happened) so I could put more focus on helping them. So yeah....I may have given up having a child to help them out.
Trust me...I've told my dad how hearing that from him makes me feel. Before I get too upset...I remind myself that I'm trying to rationalize with someone not mentally able to at the moment. So then I just tell him I am changing the conversation because what is done is done and he ultimately made the decision and he can either stay in the past and make himself miserable with "coulda shoulda wouldas" or live in the present and have a chance of being happy in life.
ETA: At least my mom and brother and sister like it out here and are happy to be closer to me. Making 3 out of 4 happy isn't that bad I guess.

I just hope before he is gone he can tell you how much he appreciates everything you have done. Seems stubborn.
