why is it that GC's are white trashy but the olden days piccadilly places weren't?

Piccadilly may as well be a Michelin star restaurant as far Golden Corral is concerned. And Piccadilly doesn't even attempt to be a good restaurant.

Don't know that for a fact but the Sherwood one closed awfully close to when this one opened. Maybe they just moved the business.

Makes sense. The one on sherwood had to be making bank because that place had a full parking lot every time I passed it, at all hours. The building might have been run down, or the mold in the kitchen might have become sentient so they had to move.

My dad still lives close to there and we were hoping they were going to put something nice in that area. But of course it's white trash, Ryan-esque junk. Another good reason not to live around that area, especially post flood.

As far as I'm concerned Sherwood, Millerville, O'neal ln. is nothing more than Livingston Parish east.

That area has been on the decline since 05,06

edit: Livingston Parish west

I love Golden Corral. But I'm a single guy and its an easy, cheap meal thats a little healthier than fast food. I usually go during off hours and load up a to go plate. I can get 2 or 3 meals out of it. Just warm it up later. On the weekends, they have a pretty decent breakfast. It reminds me of Shoneys. Its no better or worse than any other cafeteria. Just don't go when its busy..

I grew up in Shenandoah, and lived off Millerville in college....it's been declining alot longer than that IMO.

You also live in Beaumont. That is a very large and nice GC with great food. I have a neighborhood GC that isn't quite as big as the one there but is as nice and also has great food.

The customers at my GC seem to be veterans - a lot of old guys with caps with their units and branches, professions, neighbors with the occasional lawn crew.

The people who hate GC's tend to live in Louisiana. They are the ones who throw their trash out of their truck/car window on the way to GC to bitch about the other people who threw their trash out of their window. Louisiana just has a lot of trashy people.

Its a breakfast buffet, they are all pretty much the same. They even has an omelet bar and a crepe station. Its hard to screw up breakfast. Although they over cook the bacon. I don't like it crisp, but thats just my preference..

Anyone who steps foot in that place has some self loathing issue they haven't worked out yet.

When I lived in Baton Rouge, I went to the one on Sherwood. It wasn't that bad. It was great when I'd pull night shifts on the weekend. I'd stop by there on the way home and get a plate loaded up. Enough for breakfast and lunch. Eggs and fried chicken is an awesome combo..

Where is the one on Millerville? Next to Chilis or did something close down?
