re: Going to New York in January... Need hotel recs

I was looking at Times Square because of the museum and Central Park. These are 2 places I will go. I will also go to the WTC site/memorial. Sounds like I won't be staying in the Times Square area due to some of the recs on here about touristy and crowds. I guess it is really easy to just take the subway or whatever to go to that area. I will check Soho and around that area.
