Backyard country wedding at family place. Invitations from mail order. Stamps. Sams for liquor. Frat guys for bartenders. Disposable cameras for guest to take pics and a relative during the ceremony. Preacher, tables & chairs borrowed from the church. Food from the BBQ joint. Flowers from local florist. Aunt to make the cakes. Jazz quartet. DJ friend to fill in.

Bout $5k. Good to go!

This reminds me of the scene from Father of the Bride when George imagines white and red checkered table cloth and paper plates while he's grilling.

I recently looked in NOLA and Baton Rouge.

Engagement pictures can run you from $400 - $800.

Day-of wedding photography ranges from $3,500 for "beginner" photographers to $6,000 for "expert" photographers. It's usually about 7 hours.

I know a good professional camera body runs $6000+ by itself

More like $3,400 but still freaking expensive.

Look into the guy I used. We got engagement, bridals, 7 hours day of (ended up being about 9), a book for us, a book for each set of parents (everyone gets to pick which pics go in their book), a proof book, CD proofs, and some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Him and his wife are great and really entertain the guests. We booked him because he did a friend's wedding 3 years ago and we enjoyed him that much. Told him that night if we ever got married we'd use him
